Did you know that heart break can lead to heart disease?
Many die of heart attack with no plaque – and 50% who die of a heart attack have normal cholesterol.
Arterial flexibility is the key!
If your stress level increases it can create a tear leading to heart attack.
So we want to regulate stress levels- challenge is how we RESPOND to the stress in our life. HealCircles.org is a new social network to release stress, come join us!
A most contributing factor to heart disease in men is testosterone. But giving testosterone is not the answer, its that he is not making enough. Every man who has a heart attack has low testosterone.
High cortisol inhibits digestion, immune system and can cause high blood pressure.
Generally, a year and a half after a big emotional and unresolved situation such as divorce, child, death, job change, etc can lead to health issues if unresolved. Learning how to deal with stress is the key to heart health.
Key insight into how men and women can be heart health?
For men – Heart opens when you feel successful in helping others.
For women- When you feel successful in getting the love and support they need.
As a woman, if you are feeling unsupported, you have more adrenalin and cortisol and lesser estrogen and progesterone. Worst, the more women complain the worst it gets as it becomes a habit.
Key insight is don’t verbalize the negative but you can share the emotions. Just don’t share based on the expectation of change.
Complaining is a habit you want to break. We can even get addicted to complaining. The key is not to ignore the feelings, but share them with people who are not the target of feelings.
Women before menopause require 10 times more estrogen than men. That means women need to talk 10 times more than men to share their emotions! Women need to share their frustrations or disappointments to increase their estrogen.
How to share the right way:
“You know, the other day with this happened, I had a lot of feelings come up. It’s not a big deal but I just want you to know about it ….”
I was disappointed or frustrated … key is to add emotions as opposed to statements like “you don’t care”.
The key to any communication is to start with the phrase- this is not a big deal, just take it into consideration. Anything else, he will defend himself. Learn to minimize and speak emotions.
For men, when they get upset, this is not the time for them to talk to their spouse. The goal is lower estrogen and increasing testosterone.
She will feel like she is your mother or she will shut down.
When men talk about negative feelings their estrogen will go up!
Men need to do something that makes them feel successful. They need to forget about their problems to get their testosterone up.
When they do something they are good at their hormones go up, which is great! Men should not show emotions unless talking to a therapist who is going to analyze and support them.
For women, anytime they do things that they enjoy doing, feel safe doing, their cortisol and adrenalin will go down.
For men, anytime they do something difficult.
For men, retirement means 2 to 3 years to a heart attack, according to statistics. It’s very important for a man to do a job that they feel good about, overcome a challenge, feel needed!
A simple impactful change is to go on a “complaining fast”. Stop trying to elicit sympathy from others. “Poor me” is addictive, and releases the wrong hormones.
You want an attitude of sharing and letting go, instead of festering.
This makes a huge difference in lowering cortisol and keeping us heart healthy!
How we regulate and respond to stress determines our heart health.
Men and woman respond differently.
Heart disease in men is owing to low testosterone.
Heart disease in woman is due to high stress levels.
Stress hormone.
– Inhibit Digestion
– Inhibit Immune System
– Elevate Blood pressure
How can you bring love into your life?
Decreasing stress and cortisol levels.
For men their hearts open when they are successful in helping others.
On the other hand a woman’s heart opens when she is successful in getting the love support she needs.
Try not verbalize negative complaints to your loved ones. It raises dopamine which can be quite addictive.
The more the complaints the worse life becomes.
Men need high testosterone. Stress raises estrogen.
Any time a man has difficult challenge something he’s good at and enjoys doing he’s testosterone goes up.
Woman need balance in their estrogen and progesterone, stress increases testosterone.
A woman’s level is in balance when she does. something she’s enjoys loves and feels safe.
Learning to deal with our emotions and stress is the key to heart health.

I was diagnosed with cardiomyopathy or heart failure after I gave birth to our firstborn in 2007. This came as a shock to me and my family. I had just had an emergency C-section.
We knew my blood count/hemoglobin was dangerously low at 6 grams per deciliter (normal range for women is between 12.0 and 15.5). But we had no idea that the pregnancy or the blood count had affected my heart.
My ejection fraction (EF), which is the amount of blood pumped out of the ventricles with each contraction, was less than 40% at the time (normal range for women is 55% – 75%). I was back in the hospital but my baby was not allowed to be in my care. I was emotionally and physically drained. I just wanted to be with my son.
My case was sent to the head of cardiology, and I will never forget what he said to me: “The practice of medicine is an art form, not just a science. I want to help reduce your stress and reunite you with your son as soon as possible. Let us help you.” I was refusing to take any medications as I did not want it to affect my ability to nurse my son.
His approach and manner calmed me. We worked out a treatment plan that would also allow me to continue to nurse my son. This quickly eliminated my stress levels, and the bonding time I had with my new baby helped my motivation to fight against heart failure. As soon as I was able to, I pushed myself to walk, to do some deep breathing exercises, and to meditate. Within a week, I was released from the hospital, but I had to continue taking medications.
At home, with the support of my husband and parents, I was able to rest and spend time with my newborn baby. My father kept telling me that I had to beat this for my son. I was too young; I had too much to fight for. I embarked on a diet, exercise and meditation regime. I started with telling myself every day how grateful I was to be alive and to have this beautiful baby. I felt like I was the luckiest new mom – I had the support of both my partner and my parents. I stayed positive and was certain I would recover.
I was on maternity leave for 4 months. I wanted a clean bill of health by the time I started working again, but it took longer than that to recover fully. However, I kept at the diet, light exercise, and meditation regimen.
I incorporated green veggies, good fats like avocado, and dates to help increase my hemoglobin. I also started taking iron infusions to help increase my iron levels and hemoglobin. Exercise and mediation helped keep my stress levels low. I took the time to be present at the moment, practicing positive reinforcement. I cherished every moment I spent with our son. Six months later, my EF had improved to the point where it was almost normal. I was overjoyed! I was hopeful. A few months later, in 2008, we realized that I was expecting once more. Given my experience with the earlier pregnancy, the doctors were concerned. However, with the help of modern medicine, diet, light exercise and meditation, I was able to go through another pregnancy and keep my heart from a relapse.
We are blessed with two healthy kids, and over time, my heart failure has fully recovered. Don’t let anyone tell you that can’t recover from heart failure. I’m living proof that you can.
