[00:01] REENA JADHAV: Let’s talk about chapter six which is hello plants, goodbye cholesterol. What is that connection between plants and cholesterol?
[00:08] DR. JOEL KAHN: Well it’s a fundamental biochemical certainty that people don’t know it. Your blood cholesterol is at a certain level because of two sources of cholesterol your liver makes cholesterol then it dumps it into your bile then it gets into your intestines and then you will absorb it from your intestines poop out through your rectum. And the other source dietary and plants don’t have cholesterol only chicken, eggs, cheese, yoghurt, ice cream, lamb, pork, bacon, sausage, and hotdog. Now there is no cholesterol in bean there’s no cholesterol because it’s an animal made animals have liver so if you find me a bean that has a liver that being primate cholesterol it doesn’t exist there is no banana than as a liver. You cannot say you can obviously reduce the amount of cholesterol coming in your body by eating plants exclusively or mainly plant foods and that will impact your cholesterol now and that’s a good thing to do. In general, studies are clear as day if you had to pick cholesterol to lead your life at, 150 or 280 you’re much more likely of higher check stroke aneurysm 280 and if muscles weren’t 150. Many patients they got serious change of diet learned, how to make a bean soup cholesterol without medication fell a 100 points. Well that’s pretty impressive and one of them today so anyways it’s a good route. Some people are doing strictly a plant diet and they still got a high cholesterol because genetics are a factor and you may have to use a variety of medicines or natural advanced to the plants. What foods specifically lower cholesterol actually soy products like organic tofu and edamame, tempeh, almonds are a good one, oats are a good one. Is there some studies out there I reviewed them in the book.
[02:12] REENA JADHAV: That sounds great, alright!
