[00:01] REENA JADHAV: You have a chapter about plants and religion, which is the last chapter we will cover in this book series. So what have you learned what do you share about plants and plant based diet and religions?
[00:12] DR. JOEL KAHN: When you can find certainly Christian groups promoting is I mean the Adventist church worldwide being one promoting plant only diet, you can find Jewish organizations be it by surprise you can find Muslim organizations clearly Hindu, Buddhist organizations and societies, the Jane in India they are very respectful animals. Some of it’s out of the principle of the hymns and kindness and searched on that side of health as much as possible. I mean you go back and many people do this to the book of genesis if you read it carefully the human species was not fed animal products after the flood and Noah what was sort of a concession and a plan B to allow humans to now include animals in their diet. And there are people that point to that. There are people that do the Daniel fast around Easter because of the book of Daniel saying the superior diet was a diet without any animal product so all those points are out there whether people put high priority and that or not. But it’s interesting and it noble we live in a world where there’s a lot of cruelty and all a lot of people say peace begins in the kitchen, peace begins on your plate. We are not talking about slaughtering animals for food, we are talking about not slaughtering the animals and having a peaceful diet and a loving diet.
[01:42] REENA JADHAV: Beautifully said, thank you so much for writing this great book the plant based solution. Let’s take a look at it one more time. Alright well those of you watching or listening to the show now we’ve obviously got the link in there for you do not miss the recipes they are some delicious recipes in there. Say it louder for the podcast listeners Dr. Joel they didn’t hear you.
[02:08] DR. JOEL KAHN: All the recipes are simple I mean I do own a few restaurants now but these came out of my kitchen and mainly my dear wife Karen and we are not a culinary institute of America to train people. So we got over NATO, we got a lentil loaf that’s my mother’s recipe I got yeah smoothie, we have got rolls. I should probably the most popular recipe is a smashed chicken pea salad which you put in a pea there, you put on a whole grain grad, you put on the lettuce wrap, a colugo wrap just so simple but it’s like you never need tuna fish again once you have that.
[02:45] REENA JADHAV: And it’s absolutely delicious I actually tossed some tahini in there when I blended it up oh my God it is just I am starving I am so hungry now so we’re going to wrap up this book master class series; Dr. Joel Kahn keep up the amazing work and for the rest of you if you’ve ever thought about transitioning to a plant based diet this is the book to get started well.
[03:05] DR. JOEL KAHN: Thank you.
